Main Bio

Michael’s roots in Bend are very deep. He’s seen it all these last 30 years, including the growth from a small logging town of 12,000, through a housing boom in the 70’s, and the virtual stop in the housing market with high interest rates in the early 80’s.

Born and raised in the California wine country, Mike moved to Bend prior to high school. He attended Central Oregon Community College on an academic scholarship, the University of Oregon on a scholarship through Bend’s Brooks Foundation, and obtained a B.S. in Economics. After graduating with his Juris Doctorate from the University in Oregon in 1978, he worked for two years as an associate with the law firm of Jaqua and Wheatley in Eugene handling insurance defense cases. He decided to “go solo” and in 1981 he returned to Bend to open his own office on the corner of Greeley and Division Streets (now a clock shop).

During the 12 years he was at that location, Michael focused his practice on insurance defense, general and civil litigation, business, contract, debt collection, landlord/tenant, personal injury, real estate, estate planning, arbitration, and mediation.

For several years, Mike maintained a part-time office in Sisters. From 1992-1997, Mike moved his practice to Redmond, where he was a partner in the law firm of Bryant, Emerson, Fitch, and McCord in Redmond.

He returned to Bend in 1997, and has been at the corner of Greeley Ave. and Hill Street since 2000, and typically handles estate planning, probate, real estate, landlord/tenant, general litigation, debt collection, arbitration, and mediation.
